I bought the Scott A. Duff book and used it to detail all of the parts on my Jan '44 SA CMP Garand, serial number 2.44M.
I've found one part that is not correct for the Jan. '44 production date and one I am not completely sure about.
The Safety lever is obviously wrong as it is a C46015-4 WRA.
The Operating Rod is the one I am not sure about. It appears to be a straight cut / flat side with D35382 SA. -Is this correct?
For the parts that aren't correct, should I look to find period correct replacements or should I leave them as they are? I know it is my rifle and solely personal preference, but what is the prevailing wisdom?
Thanks.....
Here is a picture of the rifle.
