    Early magazines

photo of two early AR-15 waffle magazines in a rubberized-cotton pouch from the very early 1960's. Was this pouch USAF issue or Special Forces issue ?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. No personal experience here, but I've seen a good many pictures of this type pouch being worn by USAF Air Police/ Security Police, usually with the open end down.

Many photos of MACV SOG teams as well as SEALS using these pouches in the national achives.... I have a large quantity of the type 1 (cotton canvas like yours) and the type 2 rubberized (extremely scarce) versions. These are relatively rare and prices going up... Typical usage for these in vietnam were for the early stoner magazines as seen in use by the seals.... hope that helps.... I could use one of the waffle mags... any extra? I have extra unissued pouches...
