Stock Markings

Hi,

I'm a new member and this is my first question.

I recently acquired an IBM M1 carbine and it has two stock marks i would like help identifying.

The first is a .U. that is just above the pistol grip and the other looks like a JLE inside the oiler/sling hole.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
