A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. The X on the bottom of the pistol grip and the four rack numbers on the right side of the butt stock give at least the stock itself away as a Greek return. Probably the rest as well. I got a 5.8 SA about four years ago that was Greek return with the same stock markings (also a very small P in front of the rear sling swivel). The chamber was in the white and it was mostly correct. A wonderful rifle in my book!

Thanks for the feedback. It seems as if there are more of these to be had in the Greek Air Force returns. This one needs a range test before long.

I wouldn't be paying more than the $595.00 plus shipping that CMPicon would charge for a similar service grade rifle. CMP will shortly be selling the nice returns they recently got from Greece. I purchased a 5.8 mil SA at Anniston that was like new and all correct except for a HRA stock that made it a service grade. Believe me, they have alot more in like condition.

You guys are exactly right. Garands are made to have all parts but the Bolt-Receiver/Barrel(Headspacing) able to interchange. The Greeks knew this. As was said, parts are parts, The rifles function perfectly. All that matters to the Military-mind.

Coneten, I've got you 5.8' s brother,5869326. It came from CMPicon as a Service Grade around six years ago. It is totally correct as received from the information available.
