Sellier & Bellot ammo report
Well, my wife is out of town this week-end, so I was able to sneak down to my 25 yard range by my creek to try the Underwood in the new potbelly and S&B ammo. (She has prohibited me from shooting until after the rebuild of the shoulder and being released by the doctor next spring- She feels that shooting my AK too soon after 1st surgery caused it to come un-done! It's BS, the AK with a 103 brake has no more recoil than a carbine, but she could make my life miserable!!!!).
I took some WCC white box, some S&B FMJ, and some 25 yard M1 carbine targets from TM9-1276 (p 53). I wanted to see how much difference changing into the pot belly made. Long story short, I had to click one click right after the stock change. WCC shot about 1" to 1 1/4" inch 5 shot groups, but the S&B did a nice 3/4" group (25 yards)! Center of group was identical for S&B and WCC. Good ammo for matches. Need to pick up another 1,000 when I can. I had shot S&B a few years ago in a different carbine, but wanted to try it in this one.
The 100/150 setting POI is about .25 inch above POA, which according to the BC is about right for a 100 yard dead on hold, but should be 1.2" for dead on at 150. When I put it on the 200 setting, the POI was 1.3 inch above POA at 25, and should put it about 3.25" above POA at 100 and dead on at 150. It should be perfect for a 6 O'Clock hold an a 6 1/2" SR1 100 yard bullseye. I love it when a weapon performs as it should!
I know I could trim the front sight, but it hurts nothing to leave it on 200 for dead on at 150.

SB makes good ammunition. Good luck with the rehabilitation of your shoulder. And hopefully your wife will not find and read your post! Sincerely. BruceV.

Thanks
Thanks! Fortunately she does not read the gunboards. She is too busy on Facebook.! What really sucks is that I shattered it in a fall in January and had it rebuilt, but one of the tendons tore back off in July. I am going to a different sawbones this time, but he is so good he is backed up until November! I have been waiting since August.

I had my shoulder done May 6th. Rotator cuff torn in two directions and a torn tendon. The tenden was too short to go back to it's normal location. My surgen put in two metal anchors and attached it to them. It's been about six months and almost all the flexibility is back. But still doing strength exercises.
It's great what they can do now a days.

Shoulder
Thanks for the moral support!
I was out feeding horses in January, slipped on the ice and landed on the shoulder. Thanks to Levaquin making my tendons brittle, I dislocated the shoulder, completely tore off and detached three of the rotor cuff tendons, and almost completely tore through a muscle. After a painful reconstruction surgery, I rehabbed fine, getting about 90% back after 7 months. Apparently one was not healing right, and it detached again in July. Been a mess ever since. My wife blamed it on shooting my AK, even though it was two months since I shot it when the tendon broke again. Oh well... that's another story!
Hopefully the doctor will convince her I am clear in April or May so I can start shooting my carbine at some vintage military 100 yard matches at Highland IL with Milsurpcollector!

thanks for the personal info, I now will not do my shoulder. I am feeling better about not having surgery every day now. I really don't want my lady to be able to hold that over my head. you know how they do??

I need to pick up some S&B. I was able to get a box of Remington at Walmart and a box of Aquilla. I havent shot those. I did try some 1950s Lake City I had when I shot my Underwood. I just shot a few rounds at a jug. I need to take it to a real range and try it on paper. I like the potbelly stock it has. Should be a great grouper since it had a new SA barrel installed during its rebuild. Have to try the Inland too. I didnt think an AK kicked even without a brake. I shoot SKSs and no more recoil than the M1.

Have you tried Remmington UMC?

Anyone know if the SB brass is re loadable? I can get SB for about $18cdn a box which is better than $28 for Remmington UMC at Bass Pro, but I do know that the UMC is re loadable.

Years ago I had a Blue Sky Inland with an SA barrel. It was a great shooter, too. I personally think carbines get a bad rap for accuracy department. Most I have had have been 4" or less at 100 yards. Ample for what they were intended for. I had a really worn and shot out Inland transitional, that at 25 yards, would not even do 7 of 10 rounds inside the 5 inch area on the 25 yard sight in target.
