1903A3 what do I have

It has a 11-43 barrel unissued it has a 1-43 receiver it is a Remington most parts have a R stamped on them the stock has FJA,cross cannons and the circle P and appears unissued here are some pics:

In the second photo it appears to have a 1903 front and lower band. The original bands would have been stamped and finished in blue.

They look like stamped bands to me. Recently re-parkerized, to boot. Cut-off appears to be OK, so it looks nice to me. Middle band screw is backwards, so the guy who put it together made a slight boo-boo.

The only Type C stock that had the FJA stamp was that used with the M1903A4 sniper rifle. Since your rifle lacks the "notch" for the lowered bolt, the markings may be fake. Could we see a closeup of them? If the receiver is a January, 1943, the barrel is a replacement. The bands and trigger guard, at least, are replacements.

A guy wants to sell it to me he needs cash he wants $725 i was thinking of using it as a shooter I know it cannot be original but it is very clean and the barrel looks brand new inside and out (like he said it was). The Receiver has been refinished along with the other metal and I guess some incorrectly. The stock looks brand new not a scratch on it so the stamps must be fake then. But if I was going to make a shooter it would cost more that what he is asking by the time I get a new stock, barrel and get the barrel attached and the metal refinished. It has a Remington receiver and barrel so those are correct. I think I will buy it. Thanks

Truth be told, he's about $100-$150 too high on the price for a perfect one.. A nice 03A3 Remington will currently sell for $500-$550 on Gunbroker right now. I bought a really nice one a few months ago for $525, and it shoots perfectly, and is all Remington and in excellent shape..

I'd pass, or offer him $500 cash.. Any more than that, and you'll be able to get a better rifle for less money. It's your money and you can do as you wish, but if it were mine, I'd pass, or at least get a deal on it..

Is the stock a Boyd's stock? Look under the butt plate, Boyd's do not look like SA wood. Very likely Boyd's wood. It is a touch over-priced. Peel off $100-$150 then you are in business. The price he wants is for a real collector grade rifle. This is not the case with this piece.
