Richmond here; this was one of our patented slippery snows. They start out with rain and falling temperatures, changing to sleet and then wet snow at about 32F. I have lived in Indianapolis and Cincinnatti, and I can tell you that driving on snow out there is very different. Dry powder at 20F is very drivable comparatively. We do get that sometimes but not often. I was driving my wife's brand new Toyota mini-van Friday night when a young, inexperienced driver lost it and just barely brushed the left rear quarter. Hardly any damage and you have to look for the few scratches and tiny indentations. We probably won't turn it in. This was the very first time I had been hit in the snow in over 50 years of driving, and I was ****ed. We haven't been getting much snow here over the last decade or so, so there are plenty of 'come-heres' and young people that simply have no experience in it. With this global warming really starting to take hold now I expect a lot more ice and snow around here this winter - I think overall we have moved into a cycle of colder, wetter winters - before we knew what 'El Nino' was we looked for these cycles every few years, manifested by cooler temps and storm after storm coming up the coast with Gulf moisture.

So I guess this is good gun cleaning weather????? Charlie, I'll pass on the snow shoes, but I will take the hint and stock up on gun cleaning supplies in case the weather turns bad here!

Hiya Charlie! - I'm near Gettysburg, Pa. 27 inchs of snow & my version of "Snow Shoes" is a 2355 John Deere with a 6 ft snowblower and 6 ft. front bucket..
Cleaned the 6/10 mile farm lane, feedlot and fed the 55 "steers" in two hours. Heated Cab and radio.
Three finger's of 'Wild Turkey' and a full belly!..Thanks for your offer!

Come on Ed. My dog's water bowl just barely got a frost on it this morning.
Anytime is a good time to stock up on gun stuff. You don't need Charlies post as an excuse do you?

Its always time to get more gun stuff.... I was just thinking about when it does turn bad and we get that 1 inch of snow on the ground... oh, no! too cold to shovel snow - guess all I can do is go clean the guns!
