Yes, the one on the left is mine, and is the Real Deal. (Also still available, at the moment).

Unfortunately some sellers either don't know the difference between real and fake, or have different motivations when selling (to put it nicely). In all cases, three-day inspection is the only honorable way to do business on items like this.

    Cheers,

P.S. Beautiful Christmas dog, Pete. Is that a Samoyed?

    Chuck,

My Harley was found. I paid $24,600 for it. Progressive Insurance gave me $15, 663 for it. They wouldn't sell it back to me for what they paid me. It sold at auction for $9,100 (dealers only). It had 614 miles on it, not even broken in. I discovered a lot about Harley Davidson and insurance in the process. They are in cahoots. My insurance stated they would pay $1000 toward another bike. They gave the $1000 to the dealer while I lost a lot of money in the process. The gimmick? No matter what you pay for your Harley, it is only insured to the SMRP, no matter what you paid for it. All goodies are added by the dealer to the basic SMRP bike. Oh yes, don't forget that 20% depreciation as you drive that shinny sucker through the door of the dealer. The real kicker? The original parts the dealer took off to replace with $6000 worth of "custom" parts were kept by the dealer.

I picked up the bike in Virginia, stripped off the custom parts the insurance company refused to pay for, and turned the bike over to the insurance company. Seems no one had ever done that before. Lot of verbal exchange before they admitted I was in the right. Gonna sell them on eBay. Need a Vance & Hines set of short shots? Connectors and brackets included. Only 614 miles on them!!

Since I paid retail price for all the custom parts, I am now going after the dealer in small claims court for the original parts they removed and sold as NEW!

    Live and learn.

    Jim

    PS
That fake bolt is the worst job I have seen to date.

well, my deals are kinda like that..but ill never buy a new anything...lol.
first Harley, was a XR750 flat tracker, all restored. owned it a year, 2 mos after it was finished, and after displaying it at a public bike show, it ends up stolen out of my garage..they walked buy 20 other motorcycles, moved a few, to just get that bike, i had no insurance on the bike as i never planned on putting it on the street.
home owners paid me 6500.00 for a rare one off motorcycle, then dropped me {Gieko} how ever you spell it.
second Harley. 84 FXR i customized, and rode the dog snot out of it, for a couple years, was stolen outside the bar i managed, and never found.
i received 5000.00 for that bike, lost 4 grand on that deal.
last one, 95 FLH Roadking, stolen from a restruant while i ate dinner with 3 Denver cops, in uniform..
was insured for 8900.00 replacement value, they found the bike, then minor damage, said they would gie me 4 grand for the bike, we go back and forth, i tell them i dont want it back, kind of like your wife running off with some dirbags and wanting a plane ticket home...let her stay were she is i say.
so they say they will give me 5 grand, and send the bike home to me from Cali, i tell them thats fine, if the bike is in fixable shape when it gets here.
it arrives, bags are gone, tank is bashed, fairing is wasted ect, ect,
i tell them to keep the bike, and give me the damn money.
they get nasty, i hire a lawer,,,im still waiting.....no money, no motorcycle.,,
never ever again...had the bike never been found they likely would have sent me 7500.00 and thats what i had in the bike..and what i can replace it for...
    and Obama thinks he can fix heath insurance...{eyeroll}
