Loy, after seeing the pic of Murphy I had to go back and reread his story. It's a good read.....Frank

He is from my neck of the woods, East Texas. Even though the movie "To Hell and Back" depicts his use of several weapons, it's interesting to note his preferred weapon was the M1 Carbine. His Winchester had the nick name of "Lucky" and after the stock was broken, he wired it back together continuing to use it with great success. Following the War, and during an interview, he remembered the serial number. Fortunately it was found and is now in a museum.
