    My Mk II and some questions

    This is my Mk II. It is US marked and so is one of the 10,000 sold to the US government. The bayonet is also US marked

    1) Can anyone tell me the how many *s it is? I see MK II on the butt, but I don't see any stars

    2) How do you check head space? I have a set of .303 Britishicon head space gages and know how to use them on a Lee-Enfield, but a straight pull is different and it seems to always close on a field gage. Of course maybe that is accurate.

    3) Finally I hear talk of a book, "The Ross Rifle Story". Assuming I can find one, what is a fair price?

    Thanks and here are the pictures;

    1.Clearly; it is a MkII 3*- just above the Roman Numeral "III" is the "3*"
    2. It's one of 20.000 not 10,000 that the US bought back in late 1917 to use for Drill Purposes only- none are documented as ever leaving North Americann shores after 1917, but quite a few of them went over to Englandicon with Canadaicon's 1st Division in 1914, when the war started for everyone else except the US.
    3. The Ross Rifle Story- contact me directly, and for $115, a new copy will magically appear in your mailbox. Money well spent, too.
