    Posted on CGN ....

You don't see the ones manufactured by Oberndorf come on the market often in Canadaicon.

If you can't view the advertisement, it's probably due to the fact that you have to subscribe to the EE (Equipment Exchange) forums on CGN in order to view them, or the ad has been deleted.

    Seller says:

1896 Swedish Mauser. 6.5x55mm. This rifle is a more rare bird in that it is an Oberndorf. I.E. Manufactured by Mauser Werk Oberndorf. The mauser factory initially manufactured the very well designed 1896 Swedish Mauser for only one year. 1899-1900.

That contract lead to the Mauser Factory building another addition to their factory in Oberndorf called the Swedish House. This rifle is in very good condition with all matching serial numbers except for the forward rifle band. Sling is included.

SORRY FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS, I WAS WORKING IN FT McMurray.

The Brass Disk is stamped accordingly: Note this is the type 2 stock disk. Which was implemented after the employment of the new 139grain bullet in the m/94/41 cartridge in 1941.

The following infomation is provided from "The Swedish Mauser Rifle" by Steve Kehaya.

    Torped, Overslag 0 str

2, for bore condition (2 means it shows a moderate amount of wear)

Bore at the chamber throat info, (second variation of type 2 disk marking) the only marking is on the minimum bore diameter bottom line over the 0. So I think this means 6.46mm. There is no punch on the top line for maximum allowable bore diameter.

I don't know how well it shoots as I have never fired the rifle. But the bore is very shinny and crisp so I don't think it would do to badly, especially for a rifle that was made over 100 years ago.

Asking $475 with shipping included to the Provinces. Cell is 780 996-4437 [/b]

Oberndorfs command a premium, but that one's in pretty ho hum condition, the Range Plate has been pried off, and it's not all matching. For me it's $100-150 over priced.
