Well, according to "stickied" thread at the top of this forum, if you plug your serial number into the blank field provided, it says....

The year of manufacture for serial number 3432531 is 1942.

Remington 1903A3 production started in 1942 at number 3348086.

Most people in the know say that is bad data.

Use Vi Shooters site listed above, look in the Serial Number/Barrel Date Lists you will find that most Remington 1903A3s in that SN range have early 1943 barrels.

I agree with RBruce - the site quoted by Badger lists ALL M1903A3s as "1942" and ALL Remington M1903s as "1941". Only a relative handful of each rifle was manufactured in those years.

In regards to the original question, the receiver dates to about February, 1943. It is an early M1903A3 and would have a pinned stock. We would need considerably more information about the rifle (pictures, if possible) before we can tell much about it.

While Vi Shooter's site was off the air a link was also pasted to the sticky section which takes you to the Remington Society page. If you scroll toward the bottom you will find a link entitled "1903 and 1903A3 production" that ties in actual monthly production and inventory data with serial numbers.

Note that the individual who prepared this list is the same person credited for serial number data by Vi Shooter.

Of particular interest are the explanatory notes at the end of the table that explains how the table was created and some of the numbering policies that were in effect at the time.

    Regards,

    Jim

Something to keep in mind is that Remington M1903s (and probably other M1903s) were not finished in serial number order.
