My favorite all-around WWII rifle for a typical infantryman would be the Enfield No.4 Mk1. It was probably the fastest bolt action rifle. It had the highest capacity of the standard rifles. It was a relatively simple design. And my favorite facet, compared to 8mm mauser, .30-06, or 7.62x54, it was the easiest on the shooter.

The Bren has it all over the BAR. 30 rd magazine, QUICK Change barrel.
Watch videos of the Bren and the BAR. Person shooing the BAR looks like one of those bobble head dolls while the Bren just gently rocks back and forth.
I know that sounds like heresy since I live in the U.S.
Rifle? The M1icon, simply because we made millions of them, far, far, more than any other countries production of a semi-auto military rifle. such as the G43 or the SVT.

Saying all that, I do collect Lee Enfields. 10 round magazine and better sights than the mouser.

Hi John! All in all I agree with you (and I'm Italianicon "by trade"...).

    Lee Enfields: good rifles!

Since the title of this thread is "Favorite WW 2 RIFLE" I didn't comment on anything else in my original post. Then the FG 42 was mentioned so I chimed in on that. Now the BAR & Bren has been added to the discussion, SO----

I own 2 BARs and a Mk I Bren. I much prefer to shoot the Bren! It is just so much more fun to shoot.
