    1.Bisley show and 2.Enforcer handguard

    1. No comments on the Phoenix show? - Anyone see/buy anything?

    2. I have an Enforcer that came with a grooved handguard which was stamped inside with "C.MOON&.Co" (I understand Mr Moon did the Enforcer woodwork) and also the rifle number in pencil. I have never seen another with the grooved guard - any comments?

    Regards
    John

Not seen a huge amount but none that I have seen had a grooved handguard.

Colin Moon not only made woodwork for the Enforcer but supplied woodwork to Parker Hale for their own rifles - maybe it was one of the PH variants.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

    Bisley

    Re the Bisley show.
    I saw
Rifle No 1 Mk VI -£4950
Winchester A5 scope with whitehead repro mounts - £1600.
    Various Envoys around £600 each.
Couple of fake/ repro Longbranch snipers £?
    Delisle repros - £2500 and £1750
    NZicon No 8 £650
Patt 14 rifle with Mk4 aldis scope on patt 18 type mounts £2400
    Plus all the usual stuff.
Went to buy an Enforcer and for the first time at any Bisley show I've been to there wasn't one for sale. Typical of my luck.

Need to get more money. Can anyone help with next weeks winning lotto numbers?

I was there on the HBSA stand and the general consensus was that prices were too high. Even Ammo Zone had hiked their prices for no apparent reason.

Dealer friends said that they weren't selling much. (See above.) One dealer comment was that the show was a "free museum".

Ribbed Enforcer type handguards........... I have a feeling that a lot of the initial L42's, c ertainly those put out to Warminster for the trials, had ribbed handguards. These were converted from No8 handguards as I recall because I repaired some! Could your Enforcer have been fitted with one of these. The MoD/Enfield orders foir spare production from Moon were plain, probably due to the cost!

His handguards were OK but his fore-ends............., well..................

Any 4ts for sale at Phoenix? Do people think the prices have hit a high point and might drop down again?

I saw one, boxed with (as far as I could tell) all the toys. The price was the excessive side of horrendous and so I quickly forgot what it was and moved on.

I don't think that here is a high point. c. 25,000 out of over four million and some of those have been lost, destroyed, converted to L42s.

Talking of L42A1s, one popped up on Gunbroker (I do not any involvement with the auction, just wanted to let those know who may be interested).

The prices seem to be all over the place right now, and I have seen similar rifles selling at wildly varying amounts. It maybe that they are fluctuating before dropping down a bit.

I think there was one relatively mint "4(T) less scope" that had had a scope added - probably the one you saw.

There were about half a dozen other 4(T)s - including a Savage and a Long Branch - but all appeared to be recent creations....
