    Who made this barrel?

Just doing my daily check of the auction sites and came across this Winchester.
The barrel has an odd flaming bomb and no other markings I can see.
Just wondering who made this barrel.

    Thanks

There is a "W" on the flat underside. The barrel looks to have been replaced. The overall carbine looks to be a typical rebuild.

Looks to have an S'G' trigger housing and an S'G'/IP trigger. Is that a thick back Type II Mag catch? ... Carbine is not original but it does seem to have some good parts to it.

Of course, I am blind in one eye and can't see out of the other...

I will have to double check my references tonight, but I think this is an early Winchester barrel. Undated Wiinchester barrels had the flaming bomb but no date. A little later, the barrels were dated. I think there is a good chance this is the original barrel. The receiver bridge on this very low serial number Winchester makes like it might be a decent start for a restoration. Not in mint condition, but not that bad. It is a very, very early Winchester type I spring tube carbine. I am tempted, but one could spend a lot of money restoring it.

    Me too!!!
I just don't really have the money right now and no telling the reserve.
That is just the 1080th WRA. I don't have enough knowledge of WRA stuff to know what it needed or what it didn't.
    Thanks for the info.

The early undated Winchester barrels with the ordnance bomb usually have a serifed "W" above the bomb. There is no sign of the "W" on this barrel in that position. It might be right, but it doesn't look like what I would expect for a very early undated Winchester barrel.

I think the barrel is a early Winchester pre 10-42. There should be a Winchester proof just behind the front sight but that might not have always been the case. It is a mix of parts with an S'G' housing and trigger. The hammer is Inland. The bolt appears to have an S on the lub so it might be standard Products. At least the rear sight dove tail has no stake marks so it is a good one for a restoration IF one can afford the correct parts.
