    Kr6ng,

Check the front left side of the nose near ajacent to the barrel channel. You may find an "S" and "A" there. I had one Springfield stock for several months - stripped it and BLOicon'ed it - before I found the SA that was there all the time.

    KR6NG,
Here's one I think matches yours.
It's marked with a M in the slingwell and has a Flaming Bomb stamped also.
It''s a Potbelly. My thoughts were it might be a Marlin stock used as replacements, but no proof of that. They are a nice heavy.... Stout piece of lumber though.

The M is the top one in this first picture, Below it is a HI.......

The slingwell marked with the M (upside down) and the Bomb.......

Here the M is the bottom one, Above it, is a late Winchester Lo-wood stock....

    FWIW,

That "M" stock seems to have a smooth curve to the belly and is not as dramatic. I kinda like it. But I really enjoy a potbelly that shoots well. Its all about the recoil shelf and the nose for me on those.

Charlie, do you have any idea how many different companies made M2 potbellies?

    T-R,
    Couldn't tell you.
There were many that came over from across the big pond.

That is because it is the second style "pot belly" stock.

    winchester stock?

Charley, exactly right , there is a flaming bomb , funny how I can see things when I know where to look .You folks are sure knowledgeable. I will save the stock for the range . Probably try to buy another carbine for a shooter, have to check what CMPicon has left , if any.
    Thanks Russ
