A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Announcement

There is a great team of super heroes that spend every waking moment of every waking day on the site and we go through every single post and read every single word checking for spelling and grammatical errors, foul language, condescending attitudes, gratuitous sexist remarks, gratuitous racial remarks, bad jokes, incorrect use of fonts and other serious offenses that need righted. I personally wear a blue cape when overseeing site duties

NOT! It is about all of you great folks that contribute to the site. We can't catch everything. We can't fix everything but with help from all of you we are able to stay on top of some of the more colorful issues. My hat is off to all of you

I had a scan of my license I photoshoped the personal info out, but saved the untouched scan to photobucket. When I made the post with the link ALL my personal info was out for everyone to see.

I've had an original 5.6 Wincherster for 40 years

When I found out what it was worth, I decided to not shoot it or use it much so I ordered a Service Grade as a shooter. I wanted a NPM based on Larry Ruth's opinion that they made the best carbines (War Baby Comes Home). I got what had to be one of the last NPM SGs. The receiver was just great with late production (March or April of 44), wonderful finish and no rust. The original IBM barrel was in excellent shape with a tiny pit at the gas hole area. The stock was an I cut Inland with a .U. rebuild mark. The carbine had late milled PI adjustable sights, Winchester flat bolt, PI type 5 slide, NPM trigger housing, Rockola hammer and a type 3 barrel band.
I had asked for a good shooter and that request was granted. It is a fresh solid carbine with low mile parts. It shoots well and is tight and functions well. I would always deal with CMPicon simply because they are trustworthy and I think that they earn their business. Ask yourself this: if a person decides to sell a carbine are they going to put out their best one? No. If you had a problem carbine and knew it was going to be an expensive fix, how would you sell it? As is, no return. At least if you don't like what CMP sends you they will take it back or make it good. Anything bought on line is a risk at best. I like to pick it up and look it over before buying.
