    Stock plate stamp

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me why they stamped the stock plate on the Lithgowicon 1919 SHT.LE MKIII* with a number. My mates has one but mine doesn't. See attched pic. Not of ours just something I found while researching.

rifle rack number, every place that took on enfields would have their own, hence even duplicated numbers.
