    Surplus 7.62x51mm NATO scopes?

Anyone know of any 7.62mm NATO scopes that were surplused and may be avalible other then the ART?

Also your opinons on anyone you may own/used in service would be good too!

Thinking I may save up abit and put on a surplus scope on the M1Aicon I'm getting.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the Unertl scopes from the Cdn C-3A1 rifles. A person fairly high up in the food chain told me they are going to all be destroyed since they had military graduations in them. The Kahles C2 scopes used on the early C3 rifles did make it onto the market, but usually they were just mixed in with various scrap. One dealer who I bought from had 3 of them show up in a triwall full of boots.

Oh I see, I didn't even know that one!

Well I am not looking for a "special" scope, just one that works and that was surplused. Could be off a M14icon, G3, FAL, CEMTE or the SIG 510 for example. Doesn't need to be a "sniper" scope.

The C1A1 rifle had a scope available to it. But they are also fairly rare, and will easily run you about 1K if you can find one.

There are, of course, the ELCAN scopes currently in use, and they can be found with a 7.62 ballistic cam in them. They are reasonably rugged, but the magnification is not great.

Have a look at the SARCO website. They post a PDF of their latest shotgun news ad on their website. You might find something on there.

Just looked around Sarco and I noticed the G3 and FAL scopes used STANAG type mounting, with 2 screws to hold the scope on the mount.

Means I'd ether need to make or buy a adapter to use one of them.

Edit, ARMS sells a adapter for them with levers to remove the scope quickly it seems.

Things down here south of the border are a little more political. You have to know someone in the service, whom has access to the obsolete sales that some units partake in. One of my boys is presently stationed at Norfolk Va. and he is in the process of getting an old M24 sniper rig, optics are un-known as of right now, but, I should be finding out more later this week and I'll share it with you. Many of the US scopes used on the Viet Nam issue rifles were commercial Redfields and bore no other markings. I'm speaking from an article by Frank DeHaas, I don't know much more about it.
Shepherd Scopes also claims that the marines either use or have used their scopes as well. bearhunter

    Thanks for the reply BearHunter.

However I'd like a issued type scope with a BDC dial.

Not sure if those models have that ??
