    8 groove bren gun barrels

Has anyone seen a Bren Gun barrel with 8 grooves and lands in it? I received three intact and two broken rifling cutter rods that have C broad arrow markings on them, and they are eight groove cutters. All markings are electropencilled on the shaft. Left hand thread on one end. Overall length is 20 1/2 inches. Will post pix later.

spoke to the scientiific people at Shrivenham leter this afternoon about an 8 groove machine gun barrel and they look on in disbelief. So I showed them this thread................. The extra friction and therefore heat that would be generated would ensure that the barrels wouldn't last 10 minutes. Not having seen more that the usual Bren barrels, I wonder if this was a local LB project somewhere down the line

We did have the odd project... one comes to mind was proving the Bren barrel machines for the Korean conflict. We produced 6 land and groove #4 barrels. Limited run only.
