My new to me front sight

I'm playing around with the rifle range accuracy differences between the USMC #10 sight set and the small aperature fine blade of a standard 03. I like the #10's but I think they gain battlefield utility at the cost of rifle range accuracy. While my eyes can still use them I want to see if the stock sights will help me on paper. Ive been posting on the boards for various sight parts and members have been extremely helpful in helping me attain parts. Thank you all.

This is my future front sight attached to a very nice base obtained from CMPicon member ScotM1A (Thank you).

As you can see it is missing the blade pin. I had ordered parts from Numrich prior to Scot finding my post and when I received them I was unhappy to find that the pictures on their site did not represent what was sent. Their advertizing, I suspect, shows GI parts not the repro's that their written ads admit the items are. The copy is accurate but the pictures are not. Anyway I sent all the parts back but the front sight pin. When I tried to install the front sight pin on my new sight it shattered (should have sent it back to).

I still need a front sight blade pin. Anyone have one in inventory?

Getting parts from GPC (Numrich) is a crap shoot. I've received repro parts when the text in their ad did not indicate that they were repro. Also, I've received parts that were unuseable, incorrect and useable but poor condition. I have also received some very nice parts from them. Their shipping charges are a bit high.

Their service was fast. My only issue is that the part shown on their sales site does not represent what you actually get. I suspect they use NOS GI parts for the catalog instead of the item they are actually holding in inventory. I was not at all impressed with their front sight blade holder.

Sarco says they have them for a $1. No idea as to quality. Unless you are a purist a finishing nail will do the job. It is soft steel that you can cut off to length and use cold blue on the ends after polishing.

Ames and I think Chestnut also has them for $1. They all want $10 for shipping. I will investigate the nail method or just add a few things to my list and make the $10 shipping more palatable.

Geta bag of nails and do it yourself. Numrich has a bag of nails ready to ship to guys who pay a buck each. Avoid them.
