    M3 sniper scope questions

I recently acquired an M3 sniperscope set in great condition. Only things missing is the mounting bar and tool set my questions are:

    1. mounting bar, how difficult is it to find one with the barrel clamp? price?

    2. reading war baby 2, I do not find reference to who made them, who did? any info out there as to contract numbers, manufacturers or even a part number?

    3. Tool Set: any chance finding one? and the info on manufacutrer or part numbers? value?

Were the tool sets and mounting bars produced "In House" by inland?

I would like to make my set complete, but there is little info that I could find on the web. can anyone help?

    Mounting bars and tools

I agree with M1icon above. Mounting bars (last I saw) were around $500. There was a guy who was sometimes selling them on ebay but I have not seen any for a long time now. I would expect them to be even more now, they are indeed pretty rarely seen.

Tools are almost never seen. I can easily suspect a complete tool set would be in the neighborhood of $1000.

Keep checking ebay/gunbroker and maybe post WTB ads, you might get lucky.

Here in seattle the mounting bars are quite a bit more

Seen a sniper scope bar (just the bar and nothing more) sell for $950 at a gun show... The seller said to me that they are hard to find but can more commonly be found "re-welded"... He went further to say that the Rarest part of the mounting bar is the "Barrel Clamp" and that they were often left on the carbine once the weapon was turned in when obsolete.

I guess I can see the reason behind finding incomplete mounting bars more often than not...

Any chance of just finding just the barrel clamp?

I saw them are the SAR show last december in phoenix. I do not remember who was making them but I think marshal morgan is who table I saw them at. as for quality, top notch. both parts were CNC machined to orig. specs. they were perfect. however they were almost as much as orig. bars. some where around $500-$600! I am going down there again and will grab the info if they are still there. if you are interested.

M3 Infrared Sniper Scope Tool Kit

    Hi,
Just joined the forum and this is one of the first things I am researching. I Recently picked up one of these M3 Scopes in its box with most everything there, it had these tools inside the box as well. Are these the tools that are so hard to find? Please see attached pic.

    Thanks for any info,

    Rich
