    Thanks J.B.

It sometimes confusing what they did have left (and what they used) in the 30's, especially when the Garandicon was on the horizon.

Again, I am not the expert but I will try to answer your last couple of questions.
    1. the safety lever itself is identified by the lettering for the pre WW2 rifles which will associate the lever with a particular date range. Levers for the 1903A3 rifles of WW2 have corners that are more square and in the case of Remington, marked with an R

    2. the Bolt shroud or sleeve on your rifle has a distinctive scallop shape on the top where the safety lever shaft resides and is associated with Smith Corona rifles. See the link here http://www.vishooter.net/m1903/rem_sc_fps.jpg

I have a fine checkered butt plate in nice shape. It was attached to a Springfield C-stock. I think on a previous install it had been on a straight stock or some stock with a smaller toe as the plate did not match up to the C stock, it had been shaved to match a smaller rifle butt. Attached is a picture of the plate mounted on my C-stock. You can see it is small. You can actually see a ghost line impression of the full size plate to judge how much of this plate has been shaved.

If this would fit your rifle correctly and you are interested it is available.

Thanks to pmclaine for the buttplate!

I am having trouble locating a correct bolt sleeve and striker rod for this project. Anyone have info on parts availability? I picked up a sleeve and rod that looked correct (Sarco), but when I cleaned them off, they are both stamped with a R.

pcaru1, if i may make a couple of suggestions.
    1. You may wish to try some of the smaller parts dealers like billricca.com who can offer more personalized service.
    2. Gunshows usually have a few parts dealers as well so you can sort through things before you buy.
    3. Online auctions are another possibility but make sure you get a "no questions asked" return privilege.
    4. I don't know if GPC still has a retail counter but Sarco does and they are open on Saturdays.

    Regards,

    Jim

Do try Bill Ricca and The Dealers Warehouse. Ask to speak with Bill and Rav, respectively. Good luck.

    pecaru1,

As stated, I'd email Bill first. He's usually very quick to get back to you, and he has a lot of parts that aren't listed on his web site.
(His email address is at the bottom of this page)

Bill Ricca's 03/03A3 Parts and Accessories

There's also a small gun shop in Irving, TX that's amazing at coming up with odd 1903 parts, but it's only open on different days of the week.
They take longer, but the entire shop is mostly old parts and there's a good chance they'll have what you need.
    (You'll need to call them)
