A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Announcement

Rocky, have you purchased any of the carbine books that we recommended you buy? Most all of the questions you ask can be answered in any of them. Please don't take this wrong.

    Once again they are:

    War Baby by Larry Ruth
War Baby II by Larry Ruth
US M1icon Carbines, War Time Production by Craig Riesch
    Just to name three.

There is not a one of us here that mind answering questions however most of this can be self answered if looked up. You will have the books at your side and look up things at your leisure. Thank you for your participation.

Not taken the wrong way and yes I have the book by Riesch. I'm a little ticked off right now because I sent a trigger housing to one of our forum members with an M2 sear in it and he is telling me it is not an M2. I sent him the link from the one I purchased on Ebay M-1 Carbine Sear Type III - eBay (item 320630389475 end time Dec-19-10 14:08:29 PST) and he states that is in fact an M2 sear, but that's not what's in the housing. I own 3 sears. Period. Two M2's and one M1 and I am holding one of each as I type. SO, I'm not sure whats happening with our fellow member, who I'm certain has more experience with M1's than I do. Hence the request for the picture. He had me thinking I made a mistake, when in fact, I did not. Again, I'm just ticked off and apologize for ranting.

Be careful with the hammers too ! You can find the correct factory one in some Carbines, then an M1icon hammer ground down to fit the dis-connector, and then both of those ones with a spacer fittted to make them back to M1 again !. It's a never ending story.
