    Question 1939 42code K98

I got a great price on a very nice K98icon barreled action [1939 42 code] and i already had a decent stock with all hardware tucked away at home ; so i bought it kind of quickly because i didn't want the fellow to change his mind after he accepted the $75 offer. well i get it home and realized after a once over it had a VZ24 barrel screwed on . however the VZ24's bore is very very nice. i did install it in the K98's stock and naturally the handguard doesn't exactly fit as it is supposed to but it is quite secure and son of a gun it's a real shooter using my handloads of 170gr bullets and 150gr bullets. What would you fellas do; leave as is or find a original barrel and start over ?

That depend on how YOU intend on utilizing it primarily. As it's "parts is parts" already, it seems more of a shooter. Given the opporunity, it doesn't seem a bad idea to have a spare barrel, regardless.

K98icon barrels are around. But installing one is a major pain. You have to line up the sights, easy for an arsenal, not easy for you and me. The sights will end up at 6:00 o'clock, then what? It will need a gunsmith to help. Good luck on the decision.
