M1 Carbine Build

Hello all. I am new to the M1 icon

carbine, but would like to build one up from parts. I just bought an Inland receiver Serial # 134909. I understand their are different types of parts, i.e. type 1,2,3,4,5. I want to build this carbine to as close to as possible to the period, in which the receiver was issued. What type Inland parts should I be looking for. Also when was my receiver made? Thanks

It will be difficult and expensive to rebuild it "correct". No barrel? You've got a long road ahead! Invest in some more books first. Being new, you can get BURNED real easy. TONS of fakes out there. Spend the money on the "WAR BABY" books and take your time!

Better yet, buy a shooter from CMP icon

and get familiar with the gun. You really need to think about what your after.

Let me ask this, are all M1 icon

carbine parts interchangeable? If that is the case, I'd be happy with just a shooter. Also just FYI CMP icon

is out of carbines

Building a shooter is easy and won't break the bank. Pick a look you like and go with it. Just make sure you get your parts from a reputable source so they are within spec and not worn out. Like he said, get a couple of books first.

Yes, all parts are interchangeable. I recently picked up a very nice shooter for $400. They're out there. Arm yourself with knowledge!

Chalk 2, welcome to the forum.
A good sorce for parts is Eddi Uja, he sells on gun broker as 81mm and he is in your home state.
I and others on this forum have gotten parts from him and he is very knowlegable on carbines. He can help you out.
Building carbines from parts is fun and rewarding.
