6.5x55 & & 7x57 Checkout Help?

...My 7x57 BRNO is stamped 9561 on the left side of the receiver and PM05473.4 on the right. Any idea about date of mfg on it?...

The Czech made 7mm Mausers for the world market during the period 1930 - 39.
Unless someone can decode PM05473.4 (which may, anyway, be an ID that was added at a later date) we need further identification. Please post pics showing the markings on the receiver as close-up and as clearly as you can make them!

- And a pic of the whole rifle please! We need to know which model you have. Most of the 7mm Czechs were VZ24, but there were a few other (much rarer!) models exported in this period. Is there perchance some emblem or symbol on the barrel ring that might identify the customer country?

Hope this worked. It is a VZ24 with the standard ~24" barrel. I'll add a pic of the entire rifle tomorrow. Good night.

Thanks for the photo. Please post more. So far, I see a standard " model" Vz24. These certainly went around! A quote from Ball "Military Mausers of the World" illustrates what I mean:

"The small army of Lithuainia was also equipped with Vz24 short rifles. Many of these were captured by the German forces, and then by the Russians, who later suplied them from storage to the Viet Cong, from whom they were captured by the Americans" (my bold italics)

Vz24s in 7x57 were supplied to Brazil, Columbia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The rough contract dates are known - but you can understand that unless the customer country can be identified, we are stuck.

Here are pic's of both sides of the VZ24. Need to clean and then oil the stock, but that will be a cold-weather project.
Also, where in NA can one get the cleaning rods for the VZ24 and long-barreled 6.5 Swedish? I'm missing both.

Received Robert Ball's "Mauser Military Rifles of the World" in today's post and it appears that my BRNO VZ24 with its bent handle is one of those 15,000 made for Brazilian rebels in 1932. OK with me. We Americans started out as rebels (at least my family did, having arrived in 1620).
