    After some info on a 'scope - NO32 MK3

Hello everyone - noob here - hope I've got this in the correct section

I have in my possession a 'scope and was trying to find out more info about it.

    The markings are as follows:

    C B W (painted on)

    TEL.STG.C NO.32 MK.3
    C O S 2039A
    R. E. L. CANADA
    273 - C
    /|\

The above is stamped into the tube. There is a small bend/dent in the elevation turret and the objective lens cover is slightly misshapen. There are no other markings that I can find. The green C is quite feint, and there maybe a '&' between the B and W, but I'm not sure All of the 'stamped' markings have white paint in the bottom except the /|\ marking.

Any ideas as to what it is/where it's from and is it worth anything?

    Many thanks for reading this

    All the best

Although it's a Mk 1 version of the scope, here's a good article in the MKLicon you could start with ....

    1941 No.32 Mk1 Sniper Scope

Eh? Is 273 a model no/series no then? Can't be a serial no, as this 'scope has been in my family for 45 odd years

    Cheers for the links

Wow! Only three digits from the one missing off my Canadianicon No.4 Mk.I* (T)! (S/N 270)

Photos 23 through 30 of the MKLicon photo tour linked by Lance above ought to answer most of your questions regarding the scope markings, but as to why your "C" was green colored, that's a small mystery.

Yah, it's worth something, BTW. It just depends on how badly the buyer wants it. Is the mounting bracket still attached?

There's a great little book called "Telescope Sighting No.32" by our friend Peter Laidlericon available that details everything you need to know about these wonderful old scopes. You can get one from DS Solutions in the UKicon. I'm having a batch printed too "as we speak" as I've been out of stock for a month or two. I'm just awaiting the call to go pick them up. If you have any interest in researching or using these telescopes, it's a necessary read.

Excellent pair of books for the Enfield collector and both can be ordered directly from Brian Dickicon at BDLicon ....

Thanks for stocking these for everyone Brian ...

    Regards,
    Doug

In addition to being a trained and highly experienced military Armourer, Peter Laidlericon has authored two excellent books about the No.4(T) sniper rifles and their No.32 scopes. They are titled "An Armourer's Perspective: .303 No.4(T) Sniper Rifle", which he co-authored with Ian Skennertonicon and his own dedicated work, "Telescope Sighting No.32".

If you're really interested in some in-depth learning about the No.4(T) sniper rifles and the No.32 series of scopes, their history, evolution, repair and adjustments for shooting, we'd highly recommend those two books, which are pictured below.

As mentioned elsewhere, the best way to establish the value is to put it up for auction; and I don't need to say where do I!?
