C Prefix Smith Corona's

Any idea on C-Prefix Smith Corona's? Found one at a Gunshow today (C3711468) Its all correct SC with a 6-43 SC barrel. Looks like it was a serial number overrun into remingtons sn range. Any ideas on how rare it is and what the lastest know sn is???

If it's an all correct SC with original finish, it's rare as it is and the C prefix would make it even more rare.

Not to sound negative at all, but do you know all the small differences of SC parts from similar Remington parts, including the stock? If it's all original it's worth quite a bit, but if it's been through a rebuild and had the blued parts parked and put back together with a mix of Remington parts the collector value is diminished quite a bit.

Yes, I do, thanks. None of the small parts are R marked, the bolt has an X on top and Punchmark under the handle (and also without the R mark) the stock has the FJA and Ord wheel cartouche only and the different size P (and no rebuild or "check test" proofs) so I'm pretty sure its all correct...

SC's first serial # block was supposed to end at 3707999. Vishooter's site lists C3712181. So, a little over 4,000 there. Not exactly "rare" (little less than 2% of overall production), but not often seen, for sure. Sounds like it would make a nice addition to a collection. Wish I had one.

What show were you attending? I didn't see you in Birmingham. But I didn't see much there anyway. No one was able to go with me so I was all alone with a table to babysit.
