    Selling Brass

I'm new to the M1icon Garand and M1 Carbine.

I am not a reloader, so I'll have empty brass after my range sessions. Can I sell this brass to reloaders and how much can I expect to get?

    Thanks for any input.

You sure can as long as it's boxer primed it will sell quicky. If Berdan primed then best to scrap it. Put an ad in the want to sell at the top of the forum. As to how much to sell it for I cannot say as I have not been looking for any. I would guess it would also depend on how much you have to sell too. Carbine brass seems to be in steady demand and depends on who made it surplus or commercial. There is a lot more 30-06 around so demand is not as high but again list it as surplus or commercial and who made it.

About .30 per piece once fired if in good condition.

Figure about 50 cents each for the carbine brass and 20 cents each for the 30-06 brass, depending on headstamp. No way would I ever pay 300/1000 for 30-06 brass. Not when the CMPicon is selling loaded 30-06 ammo in clips and bandos for like 57 cents each, shipped. If you paid that, added up the cost of bullet, powder, and primer, (20/15/2 cents approximatly) you would have a grand total cost of reloading ammo to be 67 cents a round for the 2nd shot and 37 cents a round for every shot after that, providing that you don't lose the brass. You would be better off just buying surplus until the CMP ran out.

At Poly Gun Bags you can get .30-06 from .20 for 1940's corrosive primed brass through a variety of 2 or 3 other types from 25 to 27 cents. The variety they stock currently is an unusual selection. Bartlett only has LC match brass for .30. Pat's Reloading has none in stock right now. Its getting harder to find, and for commercial you will pay .35 to .40.

Where is anyone paying .35 to .40 for once fired commercial 30-06 brass? I pick up once fired range brass all the time, more so during the deer rifle season when everyone is sighting in. I'll sell it for .35 cents each before I reload it. That's almost what the CMPicon is charging for once fired if you deduct the price of clips, can, and bandos.

I recently sold off some excess 30-06 and 30 carbine brass and got 10 cents a rd + ship for 30-06 and 15 cents a rd + ship for carbine brass. 06 was PS and HXP headstamps and Carbine was a mix of LC and commercial. I check around before I sold and that seemed to be the going rate
