National Gun Day (Louisville, KY) Review

It has been a few years since I attended National Gun Day in Louisville, KY. The first thing I noticed was the lower than expected attendance. In the past, you would have to wait in line forever to get a ticket and then wait in line to get into the show. We walked in, purchased a ticket, and walked right into the show. The show is a little smaller than in the past, but there were still at least 1,500+ tables. We were able to walk the entire show in 3 hours. I am happy to say that there were more Enfields at this show than the last 5 shows I attended at home. Below are a few of the Enfields I looked at today:

1917 No1 MkIII* (Enfield or BSA, I cannot remember) - Overpriced at $850.00

    No4 MkI & MkI*'s - $200 to $500 (various years and makers)

1943 No4 MkI* Long Branch w/ NZicon ownership marks - Beautiful, but not for $895.00

    1942 No4 MkI/2 Savage - $475.00

1931 No4 MkI Trials T - $3,500.00 (scope and bracket not matching, but did have the correct waisted sight protector and hinged band)

    Enforcer w/ Pecar scope - $1,900

    L39A1 - $1,500

    No4 MkI T (several) - $3500 to $4,750

    1942 No4 MkI* T Less Telescope Savage - $500.00

There was a transit chest for a C No7 on a table with a No4T in front of it, I asked the seller how much for the transit chest and he told me it goes with the rifle. When I told him it did not, he told me I did not know what I was talking about and that when he purchased the rifle it came with the chest. I said Thank you and moved on.

All in all, it was worth the trip to Louisville. I came home with a few items including 10 rounds of 1943 SR BVIIZ incendiary and 50 rounds of 1949 GB Mk7. To bad I did not come home with the Trials T.

I think I know that guy.....

I would been interested in the Enforcer (assuming the engraving was ok - sheesh) and the Savage No.4 Mk.1/2 - can't be too many of them out there (still looking for that elusive Long Branch No.4 Mk.1/2...)

    PM sent on the Enforcer.

As far as the Savage MkI/2, I am 100% sure that it is no longer at the gunshow.

The Enforcer was a steal at that price (If it was kosher)

Price on the Less Scope Savage T wasn't too bad either.

I thought the same thing about The Enforcer and considered buying it; however, I do not know anything about them and did not want to take a $1,900 gamble. This seller also had the L39 and one of the No4 T's for sale (the one with the C No7 Chest).

I forgot to mention that the Less Scope Savage had a replacement front pad, cheek rest, and handguards. Condition was not bad, but I thought I would wait until a better one comes along, even though I know it will cost me more. I have a couple of MkI Less Scope Savage rifles, but I have not been able to find a nice MkI*.

That was a steal on the Enforcer. Really. Nice review of the show; hope you can make the Feb. show.
