A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Why not train on an old used one, that you need to patch the draws on before you start? Even with a brand new one, chances are you won't get a satisfactory result the first time, and you'll have to patch the draws anyway (If you're anything like me, maybe repeatedly). I've fitted up quite a few in the last year or 2 (new and secondhand), all for the purpose of shooting service matches, and knowing how to patch the draws is absolutely essential.
If it's the skills you want to develop, a used but straight and sound forend is a far better platform for practice, and the result in terms of accuracy of the rifle should be identical.
Here are links to Peter Laidlericon's instructions to both processes, if you don't already have them.
    Good luck with it.

Wise words there TBone. You wouldn't buy a new car to practice on, you'd get an old MG Midget first. You WILL destroy the first few fore-ends you fit so destroy a couple of old ones first.
