    Pawn Shop FN 49?

    Hi Guys,
I visited a local pawn shop today searching for bargains and came across a semi-auto rifle I wasn't familiar with. The guy wanted $600 for the rifle. The rifle was of Belgian manufacture but I'm not sure of what contract. It looked like it was complete and in pretty good shape. Can anybody tell me what to look for when I go back? Thanks.

If it is 8mm/7,92x57, then US$600 probably isn't out of line. 30-06 versions tend to bring the most. There's also 7x57 (usually found in very nice condition), 7,65x53, and some that were converted to 7,62x51.

The bore doesn't look bad. A little dark but should clean up. I checked it with a bore gauge and it passed. I was able to make a deal and trade a mini 14 and some cash for the M 49. I don't have the rifle yet but I'll get it soon.
