On the grip shown above, there are 13 horizontal rows of checkering between the tips of the diamonds. Since the diamonds don't line up vertically, they are easier to count zig-zaging back and forth, but the rows remain the same.
This is a 15 row grip to try.

Just because I got the feeling I confused you a bit .. this was the way I was thinking of counting before (1 for every red row) which turned out to be the wrong way. But I already got it, this is just for explanation why I had to ask it
