So I Decided It Was Time To Get Off My Butt....

Do everything that needed doing, and sent in My CMPicon Application to get my Service grade M1icon Garand.Just today I got two email notices, one from CMP and one from Fed-Ex that it is coming tomorrow by 10:30 AM. Then Fed-Ex called the house that afternoon to make sure that somebody would be there to sign for it.

    Merry Christmas to me!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Merry Christmas indeed. Tell me about those rifles, are they original war productions and how much did it cost? I wan't to get a good Garandicon eventually myself. I've collected a couple sets of WWII era US infantry gear to start.

Yes, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMPicon) rifles are all of US manufacture, although some may not have been actually produced during wartime. Incidentally, you may see references to "Greek" or "Danishicon" (or other countries) rifles, but that term simply means that they were at one time loaned to another country and have been returned.

Here's a link to the CMP site, which gives a good rundown of what is available: [[[ http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/rifles.htm ]]]

    Merry Christmas!
