I had a DCRA No. 4 Savage in 308. Sold it in Ohio. About 6 months later, it showed at a gunshow in Michigan complete with a Pecar scope. Guy selling it claimed it was a rare NATO sniper rifle. Everything on it was beautifully done, from the scope pads to the mount. You should have seen the guy's face when I exclaimed "this used to be my rifle, but it did not have a scope on it when I had it."
I tell the story in case this might be the rifle you saw.

I've got two L8T rifles inbound, one from Australiaicon and one from Englandicon. It'll be interesting to compare them when they finally arrive. I know ONE of them is legit. We'll see about the other.

I sure would like to see what you get. I was going to have you barrel me up one two years ago but I'm never home with enough time to send it.

MJ, don't take this personally, but that's crap.

Thats a fascinating treatment on top of the charger bridge. Very carefully machined on , with lots of shapes on the underside. I assume its part of a scope mount but there's no sign of anything at the front of the receiver. Any ideas?

Its actually a 7.62mm charger guide; you come across them on some rifles. I'm not sure if they are the original type of Sterling charger bridge conversion before they switched to the clip insert, or whether these were made by Enfield as part of the L8 parts run along with the magazines.

+1 for Sterling charger guide adapter.

Scored one off e-bay for 29 pence a couple of years ago; was very surprised to be the only bidder!

It's the Sterling bridge. I still have an complete unopened Sterling conversion package (well, I did open it to check the contents, but still wrapped as it came)
I had several kits at one time, that were obtained for me by old Major B.B. Keen of Sterling fame, after the Sterling works closed. THAT is going back a few years!!!
