    WANTED: M1 Carbine S/N 122437

This was my father's M1icon in the military. I'm willing to pay twice the fair market value based upon condition.

For herloom sake I wish you luck.

But what do you think the odds are of finding it, and someone willing to sell a 6 digit Jan 1943 Inland?

Like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack, good luck with that. Your chances of stumbling upon that particular carbine are like 1 in 6M.

You might consider contacting the Carbine Club to ask whether any report was filed for #122437. If you are lucky and somebody had, and the reporter is still a member, the Club might be convinced to forward your desire and contact info to that member (without providing to you said member's direct contact info of course) who might feel inclined to respond, or not.

    I won't know unless I try.

Excellent suggestion. I'm all over it.

Garandicon Collectors Assoc found a M1D at the CMPicon that was used by a service member in the Koren War. Tony Pucci and staff fixed it up and brought it out to him at his house.
The CMP keeps all Serial Numbers that they have sold on file, which is a small percentage. At one time the charge was $25 for the service.

    I'm sure a long shot,
But try using the SEARCH NOTIFICATION options offered by the on line gun auction sites.
Maybe trying Early Inland M1icon carbine. You'll get E-mail about new listings and have to sift thru many, but again it may be worth a try.

Be really nice if you can find it, if it's still out there.

    Best of luck,
    Charlie-painter777

This isn't quite the same thing, but I Googled the s/n of one of mine and found that it had been sold on a CMPicon auction 3 years earlier. At least that gave me some history of where it had been before I bought it on Gun Broker. I have an Excel spreadsheet of s/n's reported by a few collectors and your Dad's isn't listed. The spreadsheet may have been updated since then, so you could always check the updated file - only problem is I can't remember for sure where I downloaded it. It was probably the CMP Forum, though. Another possibility is, it could be one of the thousands that Korea is wanting to sell, but the US is not allowing in because they want to "keep them off the streets" - Bob

    Thumbs up

Hmm, how about looking for an Inland - 570013? That was mine while in an artillery unit in the early 1960s. I still have my weapons card for it.
Somewhere I also still have my weapons card for my Winchester Garand, but can't find it so don't know what the ser nr was.
The ser nr on my winchester M14icon was 197285.
No idea what the ser nr was on my CAR 15 in RVN.

Sorry. Chasing down one S/N is a big enough chore. I can't take on your search as well.
