I have an SA 5.32 T2 NM rifle that has a 10/53 LMR barrel. The rifle and barrel appear like new.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. The idea is that the original poster can't come back and change the original post, making the answers not make sense.

This rifle is one of the Honor Guard Rifles that was recieved recently by one of the Legion Clubs around here from TACOM. When the rifles came in last week the Commander called me and asked if I would check them over and that's when I noticed this one. I was curious to see what kind of rifles would arrive it turns out they were all freshly reparked(except for internals)and the stocks and handguards were new and stained with a dark burgundy colored stain, they all matched perfectly. All eight of the rifles were of SA manufacture, four being WWII vintage and four post war vintage. The rifles were shipped out of Anniston. They were extremely dry and I greased up the rifles and function checked them with blanks, everything turned out good. Being as how the rifle basically came from the CMPicon we can rule out the barrel being put on by a private individual. It still may not have come with the reciever originally but was installed by the Military. Thanks for the great information fellas!

Guts, As Bob Seijasicon said " the chances are good that it was built or rebuilt with that LMR in 1959." and that would be by SA as a NM rifle. Who knows how it arrived at CMPicon but it looks like CMP may have torn it down and built it back up from the barreled receiver. About 3 1/2 years ago a Vets organization I belong to in N.C. got 6 M1icon's, 3 were IHC and two of them were "original". These rifles shipped from Springfield Armory Inc. as, at that time, TACOM contracted with SA Inc. to store, repair and ship rifles to Vets organizations. Two years ago another Vets org. I belong to received six M1's, all WW2 vintage Danishicon returns. I am not sure if these came from S.A. Inc. or CMP Anniston, but I believe that TACOM now contracts with CMP and not SA Inc.
