Unknown mark on a Metford .22 conversion

Starting to clean up a few of the items that have been sitting around here for a long time and a most interesting mark has shown up on the barrel of a Volunteer LSA Metford that was converted to .22 The bolt head is a story in itself with a forked firing pin much like a 41 (11mm) Vetterli . There are three markings on the barrel that I cannot ever recall seeing before and thought I'd throw this out to the masses for postulation.
I suspect they are just inspectors marks, but wondered if anyone else has them on a .22 converison.

I'm very glad you posted about this. In my Lee Speed research, I've seen these exact marks from time to time. Maybe we can solve the mystery. We know they are not proof marks, nor government marks. It seems reasonable to suppose they are a private inspector's mark, but I will call nothing certain without evidence.

Can you please share info about the rest of the rifle? Then I can compare it to some other and see what they have in common.
