    Enfield Buttplates?

Any idea if the two parts on top could belong to an Enfield (and if yes, to which):

Was thinking of the No. 5, but I've never taken mine such far apart to see if they would fit. And yes, I know that there's a M1903 buttplate and sight in there aswell .

They look like Bren gun buttplates

Mk2 butt plates for the Mk2 Bren butt as already stated by Mk7. Is it a 1903? Looks like a Thompson sub-machine gun butt plate to me but I'm probably wrong. I know I'm right in my next answer. It's a backsight off something else!

Thanks guys, have had no experiences yet with Bren MG. Are they worth anything? Came along with a lot more milsurp parts from a dealer.

JUST a minute, MAJOR cock up here on my part..... They are butt plates for the Mk3 and L4 series Bren guns and NOT the Mk2. Sorry about that chaps, I was having a senior moment.

The later L4's were slightly modified by having a sling loop welded onto the top edge to prevent damage to the butt by the sling hook. Probably worth EBaying if anything

Does that butt plate on the left have the marking MA74 stamped into it? That would be interesting.

Looks like M47A to me. Mind you when I was in Australiaicon we'd just purchased a load of L4 A4's to replace the rubbish L2A1's we'd been using. The spares that were common to the Mk1,2 and 3 guns PLUS the special L4 spares, such as barrels and magazines that weren't subject to IPR copyright control, Australia just manufactured herself. We also had Lithgow made 'Sterling' magazines for our new issue F1 SMG's. I learned later that Sterling didn't know anything about any licensing agreement that Lithgow might have arranged with, well, someone!
