    In the '80's a permanent extension was considered to count to barrel length, but that was changed in the early '90's. Now, the barrel length only counts continuous, one piece length.

    The "non-restricted" M1icon Carbines in Canadaicon all have an aftermarket barrel longer than 18.5" installed.
