    Butt-plate identification

I am curious to see how many members can identify this Butt-Plate. The particular carbine that this plate is for, is very hard to find, and often mis-identified. The proper Butt-Plate for the Carbine that this goes on is mis-identified in both Gunbroker and E-Bay on a regular basis. The Narratives given are missing dot at 5 o’clock position, and that is not correct. Butt-Plate with missing dot at 5o’clock position is a Springfield Armory 1952 replacement. When you need a particular part pretty badly, you study! I have studied this particular Butt-Plate for a while. Some people may differ, but I base my conclusion on War Baby and Chestnut Ridge Chart, which is supposed to be the Bible of Butt-Plates. What Butt Plate is this?

Hi Rusty, I'm with David. Two rows of four at the bottom, then two rows of six, then the fifth row from the bottom missing a dot on the left.
    Is that right?

    Best Regards.....Frank

Yep, But just notice on Gunbroker and E-Bay at the ones selling as Saginaws with the missing dot at the 5 o'clock position. That is a 1952 Springfield Armory, from what I have seen. Jim, that's what I go by, and you sill see the same ones in War Baby.

Mr. Ricca had some contract info about SA buttplates. IIRC the contract was 1952, known to be the dot missing at 5.
I have many plates here that are not listed on the Chestnut ridge site.
One point to note; Just because a stock is made by who ever, doesn't mean the correct plate will still fit.

A couple examples not listed on Chestnut, are found on Rock-ola carbines.
There are many odd ball plates still being found.

I had this picture saved in my Buttplates folder and titled "NPM-SG_maybe" - looks like I need to rename it just "SG." Thanks! - Bob
