    O.T. .. a bit, but still related

Ok, before someone tells me that it would be easier finding an original, Canadianicon marked R.E.L. mount for a Alaskan Lyman scope, I know that somebody on this forum has a secret cache of Scout Regimental Telescope MK IIs parts hidden in the basement rafters. All I'm looking for is the little sliding filter mechanism assembly for the viewing end of the telescope. Not asking too much am I?

By the way.....if you have the R.E.L. mount we need to have a serious talk. And, no, I did not win the Mega Millions lottery last week.

Can't blame a guy for trying eh?..well I guess one could.

    Thnx,
    Ian

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. You MUST keep an eye on that auction site Ickmann. I put the major parts of a Sct Reg scope first draw including the ocular lens, and eyepiece assembly and it went for peanuts. But to be honest, you could EASILY hand make the shutter from brass. The filter housing could be turned from brass and soft soldered in place with the glass sundim filter sandwiched between. Just my thoughts

Would give it a shot, but am at a loss as far as resources for working drawings-dimensions. Is there a reference text or tech manual out there for these telescopes?

You borrow a working example and the next bit is called back-engineering. Usually two words that an engineer hates but this should be a relatively simple job. I always say that the best people for these jobs are retired mechancal engineers who do modelmaking in their retirement. Just treat yourself to a few hours at a local model engineers show to see....., no...., to stare in wonderment at their work!
