    L42A1 - genuine?

I would be interested to hear the experts' opinions on this

    http://egun.de/market/item.php?id=3898508

Of course, it is impossible to prove that something is genuine on the basis of such photos. But it is often possible to spot something that is iffy or downright fake.

    How say you guys?

    Hi Patrick,
FWIW I'll stick my neck out first! The rifle serial on the side of the butt is a little unusual, although Peter & others may have seen it before. The stencilling on the top L of the transit case looks very teutonic in style, but the rifle, scope transit case etc all look 'right' to me, within the limits of the quality of the photographs. I know quite a few L42's did go to Germanyicon after they appeared on the surplus market & I gather a UKicon forummer has recently bought a perfectly genuine one from there......

    There you go, my .02c.....

    ATB

P.S. It's on 'the list' as one of a batch of 19 converted that left Enfield on 10/9/71.

A good start would be to ask Simon whether G 35 whatever it is on his list

You told me I should buy an L42, let me know if it should be this one!

I'm already registered at eGun, have bought various L1A1 bits off there, it might be an omen!

    Patrick,
The question is answered already. I don't think Peter noticed the PS to my posting. There are a very few copies of a list of (nearly) all 4T's converted to L42's. Simon has a copy, although there are a few others around too.

Thanks for the info lads. So it is quite probably genuine. The "instant buy price" at the commencement of the auction was, if I rememebr correctly, 1900 euros. Would that have been a bargain?

It would indeed Patrick - boxed sets in the UKicon are priced (to sell?) at £5,500+
