    Damaged Slide

It seems to be the norm that any damage to a weapon is immediately perceived to be "battle damage". This one would make a nice battle damage example, except it came from the government, and is an early example of how they de-mil'ed surplus weapons. It was bent until the slide stretched and broke. What a shame and waste.

By the way, the barrel is a Flannery Bolt.

I don't know about any of you but when I see things like this, I feel much safer. Just an example of our Government watching over us.....Very Sad actually.

Isn't that an A.J. Savage slide?

Once in a while there were (and are) legitimate reasons to demill a firearm, if it was damaged or worn beyond spec. Still gutwrenching though.

No one knows for sure where the slides with the Ordnance Bomb/S came from. One of the requirements for the manufacture of the Model 1911 pistol for Ordnance was that the slide would be stamped with the name of the manufacturer, which the slide in question does not have. Sedgley did use the Circle/S on replacement parts furnished to Ordnance. Also, possibly the slides were spares bought from Remington-UMC when the contract was cancelled. The patent information is exactly like Remington's slides, just without the manufacturer's logo and name, with the added Ordnance Bomb/S.

This is a Sedgley replacement barrel for the 1903 Springfield.
