    Question .303 cartridge MK7z PP-73

    Hello all.
Im a new member located in Queensland Australiaicon, I must say feeling a little lost, as this is all new to me, as I have never signed up to any on line forums in the past.
I am looking for good advice on .303 cartridge MK7z Prvi Partizn ammo I have a chance to purchase. They are in box's of 15 marked PPU7301 MBL7111 POWDER NITRO-CELLULOSE. Headstamped 303 MK7z PP-73, with red sealed primer.
This ammo is very clean from a freshly opened wooden ammo box, looks as new.
I know it is Yugoslavian, but I would like some feedback on anyone who is familiar with this ammo.
Is it corrosive ?, reliable ?.
Your help would be much appreciated, as I would like to shoot Military/full bore with this ammo.
    Cheers Graham.

Welcome to the forum, there's one or two others from the Smart State floating around on here...

I have some PP Mk8z of this manufacture date and it is very reliable.

Haven't had any PP Mk7z but I would think that it should be similar quality.

If you intend to reload the empties, there could be a snag in that it will be Berdan primed, with the small .217" primer.
The brass is good; I've reloaded some of these cases up to 8 times so far. (I'm set up to reload Berdans and am lucky enough to have a goodly supply of primers).

Not sure if it is corrosive or not.

What sort of rifle will you be shooting it it in?

A few years ago we fired inj excess of 40,000 rounds of this stuff, in belts, from some Vickers MMG's. There were only three stoppages. None of which were ammunition related. This should go some way to dealing with the reliability question.

Before use by the UKicon MoD in UK MoD guns, it was batch tested and found to be within the UK Military spec.

Now a word of caution. Treat ALL ammunition as BOTH errosive AND corrosive. There's no such thing as non corrosive or errosive ammunition (don't blame me for that saying...................., I learned it as an Armourer)

Took so long to get a bite!

Captain Bligh had it as an option as the slogan on some of our car number plates.

For the purposes of political sensitivity and correctness, the PPU factory these days is in Serbia not Yugoslaviaicon

PS, I use it regularly in my No 4 (T) and L1A1 SLR, good ammo

It's an age thing you know. I just can't get out of the habit of calling some of the old places by their 'correct' names - like Rhodesia
