    Enfield front sight +/-size markings

Need info on the + and - markings on the #4 front sights.

Do the + marked ones raise the point of impact, or are they actually taller to lower the POI?

+/- refers to height above or below standard of the sight blade. The bigger the + number, the lower the POI.

    Thanks Stevo,
That's what I thought, but I hadn't seen anything that said whether the + marking meant increasing numbers made the POI go higher or whether it was in reference to the actual height of the blade which would make + numbers lower the POI as you've stated.

    Again, THANKS!

You're welcome. The only reason I know is because I do the rifle zeroing for my Ranger Patrol. I think I have 100 sight of varying heights to play with.

    Happy sighting in!

Hey, you wanna sell a +.09 or +.10? The tallest one I had is +.03 and that got me 2" high @ 25 yards. I need to bring it down 2" on a Savage #4 Mk1* and according to the book, a +.09 would just about do it.

I'd love to help you, but I'd be selling stolen Army property if I did that. I really don't want to end up in the glass house.

They're in .015 increments, so the next one above +.090 is +.105.
