    1903 scope mount

i recently aquired a 1903 with a lyman reciever sight, obviously a sporterised one.my question is,with the reciever drilled n tapped for the lyman sight does this retract from the value enough, as to make it ok to drill n tapp the reciever for a scope mount as this would be taboo on a untouched reciever, but with the lyman already installed would the value already be gone?

barrel and reciever are original and trigger guard n floorplate assy. are original. it appears as tho one could make it whole again except the holes in the side of the reciever. i have no problem using a s&k or equivlent just wondered since it was drilled already. o, it has a bishop stock that fits great and fits me great also. i also have a 03a3 thats original so i dont know how the rear sight attached on the 03 but its not there
