Has anyone ever seen an Ammo and/or weapons storage crate like this before?

I picked this up the other day at a garage sale. I did some research on the latch company and it said that they once worked with the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft company and utilized their entire production towards the WWII war effort. The only markings on the box itself was the "White House" placard. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? As always, any help is appreciated.
