    Beretta 9mm 1915

In the 1911 section I mentioned a old rusty Beretta along with the 1911A1 pistol I purchased that I rescued from becoming a manhole cover. See: WWII M1911A1 Value, Shoot or Restore

I decided to see what I could with this rust bucket and at least make it a conversation piece. It represents Beretta's entry into the pistol business and has the open barrel characteristics like my 92FS. I considerate to be my 92FS Great Grandfather.

Every part that was big enough to hold a serial number was stamped with 9549. This included even the firing pin (broken nib) and extractor (missing tines). Bore looks like a gravel road and large safety has striations in the metal. Everything else functions.

Slide reads: Pietro Beretta Brescia Casa Fondata nel 1680
    Cal 9M - Brevetto 1915

We see the odd one around here but they're pretty scarce.

Be careful if you intend to shoot it, good chance it's 9mm Glisenti and not Parabellum/Luger. The rounds have the same dimensions, but the Glisenti is loaded much lighter.

It would be risky even with the correct ammo. I'm not sure the bullet would travel all the way through the barrel. Anyway the business end of the firing pin and extractor are missing.

    Beretta 1915 with Great Grandson

You can see the family likeness with the open barrel. Glock must have married into the family, my PX4 Storm has a closed barrel design with a little Italianicon flair.
